The Chassahowitzka river is a shallow river that runs approximately 6 miles to the Chassahowitzka bay so the tides are very critical to boaters. there are channels in the river which will allow most boats rigged for shallow running to run all the way out to the Gulf once on a plane, even at low tide. There are chanel marker buoys in some critical areas, but not consistent and on occasions are knocked down or missing.
There are two electronic tide gauges on the river provided by "ProTides". One at the headwaters just to the left of the boat ramp, and a second gauge in the Chassahowitzka Bay across from Johns Island. The tide predictions are posted on line at ProTides.com, By clicking on one of the buttons below. Be sure you follow the correct month and day for your tide predictions. But keep in mind that the tides are effected greatly by wind direction and strength as well. Use these charts as a guide but keep in mind the tides on the Chaz can vary widely. The tides in the Bay will run about an hour and 20 minutes ahead of the River tides at the boat launch.
